Evaluation Question 1 :

Question 1 - In what ways does your media project use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our media project develops and challenges forms and conventions of real media products, by the Production company logo we designed ourselves for example. It is in big black letters on three red circles, to look more professional and original. We wanted to grab the audience's attention with it and with the sound that we added as it comes on, of a howling wolf. That indicates that our production company is original and different than the ones the audience has seen up till now, e.g. lion roaring.

      

The logo for the company EMI Productions is associated with in our product, is also custom made by us, it is a squirrel and has nothing much to do with the theme of horror genre, but then again not all companies stick to only one genre in general, I think that this made our production look more realistic.

        

The title used, ''In Your Mind'' we chose to grab the viewer's attention and interest. We wanted them to start wondering what is the film going to be about, why is it named that. What is it's connection to the narrative? Would it actually end up in their mind? And who or what is in who's mind? We used red letters for our title to emphasize the color of aggression and blood so that it would be immediately linked to the horror genre and grab their attention.

Evaluation Question 2 :

Question 2 - How does your media project represent particular social groups ?

Our media project focuses on the antagonist, a young innocent girl, wearing a pink dress, but also dark black makeup. She appears to be sitting all by herself in the library, reading quietly as our main character James approaches her. She turns around and gives him a cheerful look and a smile, while we are given a narrative of her thoughts ''DIE!'' . We used her to be the antagonist since the horror genre differs from the triller one by focusing completely on the antagonist whether it's a monster, a vampire or an just an evil person. Horrors mainly bring the audience's attention to what the antagonist will do or how are they going to scare them. Usually there are a lot of girls like our evil character Eris in school or college, they don't have many friends as they are considered weird for the way they dress or the way they act and that makes them very angry and vengeful. We emphasized on that and used as an example the character from ''The Orphan'' Esther . As in the beginning of the film we see her as this shy little girl, who everyone avoids and leaves behind, but towards the end the audience is shown her true nature of hate and resentment for others.

These are two snapshots from both films in which those characters look similar. Eris is wearing a bow in her hair, to emphasize her innocence, while Esther has two and her hair is in two ponytails. Esther has no makeup, which conceals her evil side, while Eris is more obvious to it. Esther wears a uniform dress of some sort, with a neat collar and a necklace which again makes her look like a simple child and she is certainly younger than Eris . While her dress is pink and a bit more revealing in the front, that makes her look older and scarier to the viewer, they wouldn't expect a child to be a murderer.

They are both sitting by themselves, while Esther has a blank and angry looking expression, Eris has a smile on her face and eyes that are staring right back at the audience. Esther looks more like the violent quiet type of a child, while Eris looks like a calm and calculating her victim's reaction monster.

Eris does look and appear more evil, but they are both representing the same social group of evil little girls, who appear far too innocent to the audience at first and end up proving them right towards the climax of the film.
